Brazil poultry market likely to face challenges in 2025
Animal biosecurity, conflicts with key markets expected to continueThe Brazilian poultry market may continue to grow in 2025, but will likely continue to face challenges, especially related to animal biosecurity and conflicts in important countries that are destinations for the national meat, according to a recent market report from Cepea.
According to Cepea researchers, the production of chicken meat may reach 14.2 million tons in 2025, an increase of 2.9% compared to the year before (forecasted at 13.8 million tons).
As for per capita consumption, the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein estimates 46.6 kg in 2025, up 1.9% in relation to the previous year.
Perspectives of increase for poultry sector in 2025, however, depend on the absence of avian Influenza on commercial farms.
On the other hand, cases of Influenza in other countries have shifted the global demand to Brazil, which remains free of this disease, according to the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH).
The Brazilian poultry sector also needs to monitor conflicts in the Middle East, which completed one year in October 2024.
Brazil is the largest global supplier of Halal chicken meat to Middle Eastern countries, including the United Arab Emirates, which are the second main destination for Brazilian meat – in 2024 (up to November), Brazil shipped 425 thousand tons of meat to the Arab country.
