Brazil poultry genetic exports decline in January - ABPA
Demand remains strongBrazil’s poultry genetics exports, including fertile eggs and day-old chicks, totalled 2,139 tons in January, according to data from the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA).
This marks a 13.4% decline compared to the same period last year when exports reached 2,470 tons.
Despite the drop in volume, export revenue remained relatively stable, totalling $19.23 million—just 0.8% lower than the $19.39 million recorded in January 2023.
Mexico remained the top destination for Brazilian poultry genetics, importing 898 tons in January, a 13% increase from the same period last year. Other key markets included Senegal, which imported 455 tons (-3%); Paraguay, with 338 tons (+97%); Venezuela, with 186 tons (+289%); and Colombia, with 73 tons (+181%).
“Although there was a temporary decline in exports this month, we continue to see strong demand from key markets, including Mexico, Paraguay, and Venezuela,” said Ricardo Santin, ABPA president. “We anticipate steady demand from these countries in the coming months.”
