Brazilian egg exports totalled 2,357 tons in January, according to a recent market report from the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA).

Exports were 22.1% higher than the total exported in the same period last year, which was 1,931 tons.

Export revenue in January totalled $4.186 million, which is 22.8% higher than January last year. Revenue at that time reached $3.408 million.

Main export destinations include: United Arab Emirates at 783 tonnes (-22%); Sierra Leone with 352 tonnes (+583%); the United States with 220 tonnes (+33%); Japan with 205 tonnes (+28%); and Mexico with 172 tonnes.

“There has been a broad resumption of import flows by the United Arab Emirates in recent months, which, combined with the recent opening of Mexico and demand from Sierra Leone, had a significant influence on egg exports in January," said Ricardo Santin, ABPA president. "These are markets that should remain demanding throughout this year."
