Brazil’s animal feed industry is projected to grow by 2.3% in 2025, according to a recent USDA FAS forecast.

The forecast follows stronger-than-expected growth in 2024, when feed output rose 3-25% above the group’s original projection.

Total feed production reached 96.4 million tons last year, with broiler feed accounting for 45.6 million tons, up 2.7%, and layer feed reaching 7.7 million tons, up 2.4%.

Corn remains the top ingredient in poultry feed, followed by soybean meal. Brazil’s strong crop output gives it a cost advantage in feed production, particularly for its dominant poultry and swine sectors.

Despite this growth, industry sources say there is still idle capacity across the feed sector, which could be leveraged if demand continues to rise. The USDA has also projected a larger corn and soybean harvest for the 2024/2025 crop season, which could further stabilize feed costs moving forward.
