Salmonella Suspected in Poultry Feed at 26 Farms
FINLAND - A salmonella virus has been discovered in poultry feed manufactured by Rehuraisio.Experts say that Rehuraisio-supplied feed at 26 farms may be contaminated with salmonella. The virus is thought to be the Tennessee Salmonella strain discovered earlier this week at two egg-producing farms.
Leif Liedes of Rehuraisio told YLE on Sunday that tests to determine the strain of salmonella found in the feed will be ready on Monday.
Production of the feed has been suspended and cleaning operations at the plant are underway. Affected feed still in storage will not be sold.
Imported soy chips are suspected of causing the contamination, says the Finnish Food Safety Authority, EVIRA.
